Meeting the Okohira's

The Okohira's invited us over for dinner.  Here are Melia and Jenna.  Melia LOVED Jenna.

Meeting Great Uncle Teddy.

Hello Uncle Mark!

Hello Cade!

Getting a piggy back ride from Cade.

Cade even played the violin for her!

Meeting Great Grandma, Ba Hien, and Uncle Toby

Melia had a blast in California.  She loved all the extra attention!
Here she is with her great-grandmother.

Uncle Toby has lots of toys for her to play with!

Hi Uncle Toby!

Spending some time with Ba Hien.

First Plane Ride

Melia took her first trip to visit family in California.  I was so nervous about taking her on the plane.  She did awesome!  We timed the trip to coincide with her bedtime.  When she first got on the plane, she was so excited and wouldn't stop staring out the window and smiling at the other passengers.  I was worried she wouldn't sleep.  Luckily, she fell asleep just before we took off.  What a relief!

I borrowed a Moby Wrap from my co-worker and it worked great!  There is a strange rule that she is not allowed to be strapped to me during take off and landing.  I would think that those are the most important times she should be strapped to me.  Oh well.

Melia slept through the entire flight.  Jason and I were so relieved.  Unfortunately, we didn't have the same luck on the return trip.  She woke up from her nap only 1/2 hr into the flight.  Became restless and wanted to play on the floor, which obviously wasn't an option.  When we started to descend, her ears began to hurt.  Poor thing, she wouldn't nurse or take a pacifier, so we had to just let her yell.  Fortunately, there was a very nice gentleman who sat behind us who is great with kids.  He made funny faces at her and made her smile again.  All in all, the first plane trip was tiring, but I think it was successful. :)

Hi Di Binh!

Meeting her Aunty Binh for the first time!

She just can't get enough of her chew toys.

Her Aunty got some great shots of her in her crib.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Melia is such a Daddy's girl! Wishing her daddy a very happy birthday (slightly belated).

When she makes eyebrows like these, Jason calls them her "devious eyebrows." She's up to something!

Chiquita Banana!

Melia was a banana for Halloween! She even wore this costume to daycare. They called her Chiquita for the day.

One of Melia's favorite foods is banana. She's a cannibal!

The Chans came over for a visit!

Giving Kira a kiss.

She won't let her go!
