Melia took her first trip to visit family in California. I was so nervous about taking her on the plane. She did awesome! We timed the trip to coincide with her bedtime. When she first got on the plane, she was so excited and wouldn't stop staring out the window and smiling at the other passengers. I was worried she wouldn't sleep. Luckily, she fell asleep just before we took off. What a relief!
I borrowed a
Moby Wrap from my co-worker and it worked great! There is a strange rule that she is not allowed to be strapped to me during take off and landing. I would think that those are the most important times she should be strapped to me. Oh well.
Melia slept through the entire flight. Jason and I were so relieved. Unfortunately, we didn't have the same luck on the return trip. She woke up from her nap only 1/2 hr into the flight. Became restless and wanted to play on the floor, which obviously wasn't an option. When we started to descend, her ears began to hurt. Poor thing, she wouldn't nurse or take a pacifier, so we had to just let her yell. Fortunately, there was a very nice gentleman who sat behind us who is great with kids. He made funny faces at her and made her smile again. All in all, the first plane trip was tiring, but I think it was successful. :)
