Polo Beach

We took Melia to Polo beach which is right outside of the resort.  That girl took to the beach like the fish to water.

We had to hold her back from running into the water.  The water was pretty calm, but the undertow would have taken her in.

Hawaii!

We took Melia to Hawaii for a week.  We were pretty nervous about taking her on a trip since she doesn't sit still for long.  And she loves to scream now.  I didn't know how she would do on the plane ride there.  She ended up surprising me and doing pretty well.  She only slept for about 1.5 hours but was willing to sit somewhat still for the duration on the trip.

I was also worried about taking her out to eat at restaurants, since she refuses to sit in a high chair for no more than 10 minutes.  Once she's done eating, she'll start throwing her food and immediately want to be out of her seat.  We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea and they REALLY know how to work with kids.  The server would come out immediately with a toy for Melia to play with and her meals would arrive within minutes.  Jason and I were actually able to relax a bit on this trip.

A Solution...

For almost as long as Melia has been on solid foods, she has always thrown her food on the ground the second she was done eating, which made for extremely messy mealtimes.  We finally found our solution by placing a plastic mat below her seat.  Melia was excited when she first saw it, thinking it was a Gymboree parachute.  ha!

Jason thinks this outfit makes her look like a gondola driver.

Already planning on where she's going to throw her food.

The Kershners and the Howes

The Kershners and the Howes came over for dinner.  I think it was the first time the number of adults were the same as the kids.
After dinner, the kids went out to the backyard to burn off some energy.

Melia grew attached to Claire and wouldn't stop hugging her.

Tag, gotcha!
